While I was looking for some tips on how to use acrylic gesso as a ground for acrylic painting, I found Aisling d'art's website. Aisling (pronounced ASH-ling) is probably best described as a mixed-media artist. She has a section of her site devoted to Art Journaling, which is the direction that I want to take my scrapbooking. I have collected all these little artifacts of my life and I always wanted to display them in a way that is very visual and also reminds me of each experience.
A new mantra I'd like to adopt is "Make More Art". I get stalled out a lot because I doubt my abilities and I think that I will be disappointed and embarrassed with whatever I create. I read something recently that made me feel a bit differently, and I'm paraphrasing here, but it reads like this: "The forest would be silent indeed, if the only birds to sing were those who could sing best". Which reminds me that whatever I do doesn't have to be perfect, or even be the best. It just has to be my best.

I don't even know if it has to be your best...I think it can just be done because you like to do it, even if you're not doing it perfectly.
