Here’s something from msn.com today:
The article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16287113/?GT1=8816
I would like to know what people think about the study, and whether the stats are accurate. I was actually surprised at the 90% stat and not sure I believe it.
Discussion starts…now.
Hmmm. 90% is ALOT. Hardly ever is there ANY statistic that high. I'm not sure if 90% of our population even poops on a daily basis.
ReplyDeleteIf you needa laugh - go to the Q&A section included in the article. Woah.
hmmm...i hope that more than 90% wait till they are older than 20. For the sake of VD and unborn children, especially.

Um, yeah I was suprised by this also, mostly for what Jenn said-I mean, there are actually people out there that can't have sex, so that would have to be included in that 10 percent and that means that less than 10 percent choose not to-I don't know-for me this questions the validity of this test and specifically whether a truely random sample was used. I think that can change by SOO many factors depending on your sample. I mean, I know that more people do then don't, even people who planned to not have premarital sex or believe you shouldn't, but still...yeah that's a lot. I do, however, believe that we need more than just an abstinance only sex education because people simply don't have the information they need even to make the choice of abstinance right now. I think we need a lot more education about VD and pregnancy and things that go wrong with pregnancies and all sorts of things. Yeah, I don't believe it's accurate.
ReplyDeletebtw - i apologize for posting the same thing twice. actually, i don't think it would have happened if you HAD SWITCHED TO THE BETA. ahem.
ReplyDeleteHmm. Thinking about people I know, from high school, college, and beyond, I would say that 90% is pretty accurate. And I totally agree that "abstinence-only" education is a complete joke. I think abstinence is a great part of a more comprehensive curriculum, but it should NOT be the only thing we are teaching kids.
