friday

on friday, i came back from all the mudding/paintin madness and brought these lovely new chairs from the home depot. i had the 2 on the left and now i have 4 more. perfect for firepit fridays!
i also went to a wedding friday evening at the verdin bell event center. if you haven't been, i highly recommend taking a trip to see the place. it's a beautiful old cathedral complete with one of those cool tabernacle buildings up on the altar. i think the place is available for visits because it is also a museum of verdin's bell and clock history, which is cool in its own right.

en fuego

welp, we just quit mudding for the night and now, it's time to set some shit off, as they say on the west side. we're burning stuff cathy doesn't want, cos this is how you do in the country. there's no putting stuff out on the curb for scavengers here. if you can't hand it down to someone, you light it up and pour one out for your homies.

It Really Was my Fault

So, here is the thing: when I rolled the window up on CNKelly’s hand, it was really my fault. This excellent rendering of the scene illustrates why:

Note that the window was only open a tiny crack, as I had left it when I parked my car that morning. CNKelly just took advantage of the nice weather to stick her fingers through that tiny slot. So, she basically had no time to react as the window had already caught her hand and started smooshing it. I’m telling you, things like this happen a lot quicker than you think they would.

I’m sorry, Kelly. Really, really sorry.

Perhaps Automatic Windows Were a Bad Idea

On the way to lunch today, I rolled up my car windows without really thinking too much about it until CNKelly let out the most rage-filled scream I have ever heard. I looked over to see her trying to yank her hand OUT of the window, where it was actually caught between the door frame and the glass. Of course, it took me way too long to roll the window back down and let her free. I felt really bad, and cried a little.

She has some skin peeling off, and I just know she’s going to have a nasty bruise tomorrow.

Please pray for Kelly’s hand to feel better, and also pray that when her hand feels better, that she doesn’t ball it up in a fist and knock me out.
